What is the TAMEB-project?<\/h4>\n

The eruption of the civil war in Syria in 2011 caused a huge influx of Syrian refugees to Turkey. By the end of 2015 only about twelve percent of the circa 2.5 million registered people were living in refugee camps. The large majority of refugees is now spread all over the country, especially in the provinces near the Syrian border. The large number and the long-term presence of the Syrians puts a strain on the Turkish state and particularly the municipalities that host them. The refugees usually lack a perspective that would allow them to plan their and their families\u2019 future existence. Vocational Skills Development schemes can improve their prospects in Turkey, other destination countries or in their home countries once they return there.<\/p>\n

The plan TAMEB, which is being sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation (BMZ) is supposed to contribute to that. sequa gGmbH<\/a> was given the task for the realization of the TAMEB project. The BMZ provides Sequa with up to 15 million euros for the plan TAMEB (\u201eGerman-Turkish Partnership for occupational qualification\/ T\u00fcrk Alman I\u015fbirli\u011finde MEsleki Beceri Geli\u015ftirme Projesi\u201c).<\/p>\n

The Vocational Training Institute of the Construction Industry in North-Rhine Westphalia (Berufsf\u00f6rderungswerk der Bauindustrie NRW, short BFW) as a partner in the Sequa project works in the locations Ankara (subproject 1) and Kilis (subproject 11).<\/p>\n

Das Berufsf\u00f6rderungswerk der Bauindustrie NRW gGmbH ist als Teilprojektpartner von sequa gGmbH an den Standorten Ankara (Teilprojekt 01 und 05) und Istanbul (Teilprojekt 02) t\u00e4tig.<\/p>\n

Project objective<\/h4>\n

The project aims to teach the Syrian and Turkish participants the necessary skills to derive an income from the pursuit of employed or entrepreneurial activities.<\/p>\n

Target groups<\/h4>\n

The project will be open to young and adult Syrians as well as underprivileged Turks (unskilled, unemployed). This will not only boost the integration of the Syrian refugees into Turkish society but also create an added value for the host communities. A special focus will be given to the support of women.<\/p>\n

Measures<\/h4>\n

Each project location will offer skills development schemes in various professional fields. Syrian participants will generally start with Turkish language training and an introductory course on socio-cultural living and working conditions in Turkey.<\/p>\n
