State Minister Prof. Dr. Maria Böhmer and the German Ambassador visit the TAMEB Project in Ankara
Ankara. State minister Prof. Dr. Maria Böhmer and the German Ambassador Martin Erdmann visited the Syrian Friendship Association (SFA) training center in Ankara on November 13th, 2017. SFA cooperates with the “Berufsförderungswerk der Bauindustrie NRW gGmbH” (BFW NRW gGmbH) to help Syrian refugees and disadvantaged Turkish citizen in order to qualify in construction modules.
Prof. Dr. Maria Böhmer told a journalist that she visited SFA because she wanted to see how the refugees qualify within the TAMEB project as Germany provides a financial support of 15 million euros for the project. The German government invests 150 million euros each year for refugee projects. Böhmer emphasized the friendship between Germany and Turkey which proves itself even in difficult times: “In this respect we will support each other on the refugee issue.”
Böhmer impressed by women’s power
While touring the training center Prof. Dr. Maria Böhmer was very impressed by all the female Syrian participants who were qualifying for becoming a tiler. Böhmer herself was once the women’s union’s chairwoman. In her opinion the female refugees she saw on her tour encourage other women as they demonstrate a strong will to become successful.
