The Online and Practical Vocational Training is among the main business areas of ANKEY Consulting. Vocational Training has been provided in many fields, such as construction, gastronomy, web design, graphic design, textiles and many other topics, depending on the demand in the region in question. Moreover, language courses in Turkish have been provided through Ankara University TÖMER, primarily to refugees. The large service spectrum of ANKEY Consulting comprises Entrepreneurship, Job Coaching, Mentorship, Occupational Health and Safety, Migration, Social Cohesion, Employment, Cultural Heritage, Civil Society, Social Protection, the Empowerment of Women, Agriculture, Communication Technologies and SME Development. Most notably, the Management and Implementation Projects of the World Bank, EBDR and BMZ, and EU-funded Capacity Building Projects can be included in this spectrum.

Ankara University provides education through associate degree programs, and undergraduate (bachelor degree) programs, with 17 faculties, 11 vocational schools, one college and a state conservatory.

The main objectives of the university are: to create scientific research and to implement improvement projects, taking the primary needs of the country and society into consideration; to support scientific research by allocating the highest amount of domestic and external resources possible within both national and international contexts; to attach high importance to cooperation between the university and industry in scientific research activities; to accelerate national production through the innovations to be made by integrating the existing Technology Development Center” with the region and by featuring interdisciplinary approaches making use of the advantages of the university’s scientific disciplines in education and research; to prepare diploma programs for both formal and informal education, as well as certificate programs, through continuous and distance education programs, such as e-learning, thus establishing effective cooperation between the university and society.

The TAMEB project supports Turkish citizens and Syrian refugees in their efforts to create a future for themselves with Turkish language courses, social integration and social cohesion modules, job coaching trainings and vocational training courses. STL Global’s training centers are located in the heart of the cities in which they operate, being Ankara and Istanbul. The Ankara branch is in Gaziosmanpaşa, Çankaya and While the Istanbul branch is in Beşiktaş. Being in central locations in these cities allows our trainees to access the facilities easily by public transport or by other transportation methods. The classrooms, workshops and other physical infrastructures in the buildings have been designed and decorated to support proper teaching and learning, being adaptable to many vocational training curricula and equipped with essential technological devices.

STL Global has entered into a significant cooperation with Ankara University under the umbrella of the TAMEB project, aiming to increase the efficiency of its contribution to society. Turkish language courses are run by the TOMER Language Training Center of Ankara University, while the institutional support provided by the university includes offers of training buildings in Ankara and Istanbul as a project partner. Some trainers are provided by the Ankara University Vocational Schools.

Bringing together different cultures, the project aims to build social cohesion between the host communities and refugees. Trainees are offered vocational training programs that are approved for certification by MoNE. These approved certificates increase the employability of the participants. Beside vocational trainings, trainees also undergo OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Education) training, social integration, job coaching and entrepreneurship trainings. Other that the trainings provided within the context of project, STL Global retains close ties with international organizations like UN agencies, and consequently, trainees are able to gain support from such agencies as IOM and UNFPA. Considering the activities, the trainees are not only trained with vocational skills, but also other topics, as mentioned above. The organization offers such options as Practical Vocational Training and Online training, which can be accessed from all around the world.

The Syrian Friendship Association

The Syrian Friendship Association (Syrian Friendship Association, SFA; Suriye Dostluk Derneği, SDD – here the English abbreviation is used) was founded 2009 with the goal of finding solutions for the problems regarding the people from Syria living in Turkey.

There are 18.000 members in the SFA and 9 establishments in Turkey: Ankara, Istanbul, Hatay, Mersin, Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Kilis, Bursa, Karhamanmaras.

SFA is a non-profit organization that also wants to strengthen Syria with this enterprise. SFA offers vocational preparation and language courses for about 250 participants in Ankara, where around 46.000 Syrian refugees are living. About 70% of the participants are Syrian refugees, 30% are disadvantaged Turkish groups.

SFA is committed to the areas of social, economic and cultural development. It aims to build up partnerships with national and international organizations in connection with the above-mentioned subjects. They mainly do projects in these areas: Sport, culture, education, environment, women, children and people with disabilities. Esra Aygün is the chairwoman.

There is a corporate protocol with the Turkish Ministry of Education, so they can give Certificates from the Turkish Ministry of Education and certified educational training in 81 provinces.

SFA is funded by membership fees, donations, public funds and international projects.
They cooperate with the Turkish presideny, the Turkish Ministry of Education, the Ministry of the interior as well as the Foreig Ministry with city councils the in Ankara (e.g. with Keciören, Altindag).

Plastic pipe fitter

Plastic pipe fitter

A qualification in the subject area of “plastic pipe connections” as a “plastic pipe fitter” is part of the original subject area of pipe construction, which is one of the focal points of ABZ Kerpen. ABZ Kerpen offers pre-qualification courses to both beginners and advanced students in the gas and water sector. ABZ Kerpen is accredited by the German Association of the Gas and Water Industry (DVGW) as a training center.

The training offer is aimed at participants who would like to learn all the essential topics of underground plastic pipeline construction in the field of “plastic pipe connections”. The participants receive basic knowledge of the maintenance of pipe and sewer systems. They acquire technical and theoretical basics, which are adapted to requirements in practice. The training is based on the current technical regulations.

The qualification in plastic pipe connections, which is planned by the Turkish Ministry of Education to be provided over 192 hours, is subdivided in TAMEB II with the corresponding hours as follows:

Certificate for Plastic pipe fitter

Within 192 hours, the qualification content, which corresponds to the specifications of the Turkish Ministry of Education, can be imparted in such a way that the participants are certificated as “Certified Installers of Plastic Pipelines”, even with no previous knowledge.

ABZ Kerpen is a leader in the field of pipeline construction and creates added value for the Turkish partner through its technical contribution in both theoretical and practical terms. ABZ Kerpen thus supports the Turkish partner in capacity building through both trainer and trainee training in this field of qualification.

House and Corporate Cleaning

Qualifications in the subject area “House and Corporate Cleaning” are aimed at participants (according to MONE) who meet the following requirements:

1. Have completed at least primary school;
2. Have reached the age of 13;
3. Have the ability (physical, psychomotor) to perform the basic skills predicted by the course program

The 233-hour qualification in “Building Cleaning” provided by the Turkish Ministry of Education is subdivided in TAMEB II with the corresponding hours as follows:

Contents defined by the Turkish Ministry of Education:

1. Application of health and safety regulations
2. Explanation of the work carried out for the execution of house and furnishing services.
3. Application of hygiene and sanitary rules
4. Ensuring personal hygiene and preparation for work,
5. Cleaning tools, and the surface to be cleaned according to the characteristics of the tool in use,
6. Cleaning the living area according to the cleaning plan,
7. Performing stain removal,
8. General surface cleaning,
9. Regular cleaning of houses and facilities,
10. Housekeeping,
11. Cleaning of bathrooms,
12. Furniture cleaning,
13. Execution of works for the collection and disposal of solid waste

ABZ Kerpen and its Turkish partner STL Global offer the following course content (Overview of topics):

3. Working on wood with tools, especially sawing, chiseling, rasping, polishing and drilling

Training location Kilis

Most of the refugees are staying in communities near the Syrian border, like in Kilis.

Kilis is located 90 km from Aleppo and 30 km from the Syrian border. According to the mayor of Kilis, Hasan Kara, there are around 100.000 inhabitants and 200.000 refugees. In 2016 the town was repeatedly attacked by missiles. Now, in 2017, the security situation relaxed after Turkey stopped the military use against the IS in Syria.

The training center in Kilis

The training center in Kilis is located on the highest mountain of Kilis, where mayor Hasan Kara will open a kind of adventure park. Just as in Ankara, the training location was rebuilt completely within 3 months and offers a training location to at least 400 to 500 participants people a year.
